DEGREE and DIPLOMA COURSES

(Full Time and Research Based Programme)

The degrees and diplomas are awarded by Nepal Institute of Human Sexuality (NIHS) subject to the approval of South Asia Institute for Human Sexuality (SAIHS). Details of courses are given below


Post-Graduate Diploma

PDHS - Professional Diploma in Human Sexuality (Leading to the Master of Human Sexuality)
Eligibility : Any Nepali or Foreign Citizen with a Graduation after 12 years of Schooling and minimum 3 years of University education.(MBBS / MD / BHMS / Nursing / BAMS / BUMS / MD(AM) / LLB / Sociology / Anthropology / B.ED
Duration : 9 to 12 months
Total Fees : US $ 1250 or its equivalent in Nepali Rupees.
Language: English (with minimum IELTS with a score of 5.5 in each band and with an overall band score of 6.0 or its equivalent in TOEFL)
Note: The IELTS and TOEFL requirements can be waived till 2015 AD subject to approval of NIHS


Master

MHS - Master of Human Sexuality
Eligibility: Any Nepali or Foreign Citizen with a Graduation after 12 years of Schooling and minimum 3 years of University education.
MBBS / MD / BHMS / Nursing / BAMS / BUMS / MD (AM)/ LLB etc. OR Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Arts with anyone of the following subjects: Sexology/ Psychology / Social Work / Health Work / Counseling / Family Studies / Sociology / Anthropology and Other Social Sciences
Duration: 18 to 20 Months. Alternative timescales can be negotiated with the relevant Institute/University.
Total Fees : US $ 1650 or its equivalent in Nepali Rupees.
Language: English (with minimum IELTS with a score of 5.5 in each band and with an overall band score of 6.0 or its equivalent in TOEFL)

Doctorate

DHS - Doctor of Human Sexuality
Eligibility: Any Nepali or Foreign Citizen with any Master's or equivalent degree holder: Sexology / Internal Medicine/ Psychiatry / Urology / Neurology / Dermatology / alternative Medicine / Nursing / Psychology / Law/ Health Work / Counseling/ Family Studies/ Sociology / Anthropology and Other Social Sciences.
Duration: 24 to 36 months (Research based). Alternative timescales can be negotiated with the institution.
Total Fees : US $ 2250 or its equivalent in Nepali Rupees.
Language: English (with minimum IELTS with a score of 5.5 in each band and with an overall band score of 6.0 or its equivalent in TOEFL)

All applications for the enrollment in the above courses are accepted throughout the year in prescribed forms of the institutions after correspondence by the prospective students with the institution through email. Prospectus and dues for enrollment, course and/or internships will be sent through e-mail to the applicants within a month of receipt of their first correspondence.

Thesis: The candidate will prepare synopsis and will submit to NIHS office. After the approval of synopsis by SAIHS through NIHS, he/she will prepare a thesis (dissertation) under the guidance of a professor or associate professor suggested by NIHS / SAIHS.
NOTE: The Professional Diploma In Human Sexuality will lead to obtaining the Degree of "Master of Human Sexuality (MHS)" from SAIHS through NIHS. No extra work will be required. The PDHS thesis will also fulfill the Masters degree thesis requirements. After a six month period from receiving of Diploma the candidate will be eligible to obtain the Masters degree after viva-voce and paying the required fees to SAIHS through NIHS.
SPECIAL NOTE: DHMS, DUMS or DIMS holder will be eligible for obtaining the Masters degree (MHS) if he/she has any bachelors degree or equivalent qualification.
